DxO and OnePlus today said they're developing the camera of the OnePlus 5 smartphone together. OnePlus has indicated that the OnePlus 5, which will be the successor to last year's OnePlus 3T flagship, will arrive in the months ahead. OnePlus hasn't shared any real details about the phone, such as the screen size, processor, or camera resolution. OnePlus doesn't have a carrier distribution deal in the U.S., but it does sell its phones directly to consumers online.
OnePlus has made a new test build of its OxygenOS platform available to its premiere smartphones. The open beta for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T primarily boost the core platform from Android 7.1 to Android 7.1.1, though other improvements are afoot. The photo gallery earns a significant number of new options. For example, the photo editor allows people to add a watermark and now provides a photo straightening tool. The gallery also makes it easier to see the latest photos and videos, which are highlighted, as well as more clearly sort by location. Photos and videos may also be grouped by month or by year, and users can hide individual folders, photos, and videos if they so wish. OxygenOS Open Beta 12 is available to side load for free. It is posted on OnePlus' web site.

OnePlus is pushing out a minor system update to both the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. OxygenOS 4.0.3 chiefly resolves some bugs, but does manage to add a few new features. For example, the phones gain a toggle for switching on WiFi IPv6, as well as the Amazon Prime app in some regions. OnePlus says OxygenOS 4.0.3 improves the the way both phones transition from poor WiFi to LTE data when the hotspot connection drops. Other fixes include increased stability and optimized night time photos in the camera; updated audio parameters and cleaner audio recordings; and updated APNs for select global carriers. OnePlus says the update will roll out in waves over the next few weeks.
OnePlus today began to distribute OxygenOS 4.0 to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. OxygenOS 4.0 is based on Android 7 Nougat and includes revised notifications and settings menu designs; support for multi-window view; notification direct replies; expanded Shelf customization tools; and more options for the status bar icon. In a forum post, OnePlus thanked beta testers and said their feedback led to improvements in performance across the OS. OxygenOS 4.0 will be made available to a small number of users today, with a broader rollout planned for the next few days.
OnePlus has published new builds of OxygenOS for its OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. OnePlus 3 owners who've signed up as beta testers can now access OxygenOS Open Beta 9. This beta is based on Android 7 Nougat. OnePlus says the beta expands screenshots, optimizes shelf design and other UI elements, and stabilizes battery and system performance. Beta testers who've already installed previous builds of the beta will be able to download Open Beta 9 over the air. Otherwise, the beta needs to be sideloaded from a PC. OxygenOS 3.5.4 for the OnePlus 3T is a bug-fixing update and does not include Nougat. For example, the update improves performance on T-Mobile's network. It also reduces lag when the battery is below 5%, restores GPS and auto-rotate behaviors when battery saver mode is turned off, resolves a camera bug, and increases stability system wide. The update is available as an over-the-air download.

The selfie camera has a new 16-megapixel sensor and the 3T improves the upon the original's processor by jumping to the Snapdragon 821 with 6 GB of RAM. The battery is bigger, too, leaping from 3,000mAh to 3,400mAh. The 3T ships with 64 GB of storage, but a new 128 GB variant has been added to the lineup, as well. The OnePlus 3T runs OxygenOS and hits stores November 22. The price is $40 more than the original's at $439.
