Cricket Wireless today debuted a new promotion that drops the price of its Unlimited 2 plan, normally $55 per month, down to $40 per month. The deal is for new customers who switch to Cricket Wireless and sign up for the Unlimited 2 plan. Cricket will reward these new customers with a $10 monthly bill credit for up to a full year. Subscribers will need to sign up for Auto Bill Pay to knock another $5 off the monthly bill, bringing it from $55 down to $40. Cricket claims the promo can save customers up to $180 over the course of a year. The Unlimited 2 plan includes unlimited data, calls, texts, and media messaging in the U.S.; unlimited calls, text, data, and picture messages to Mexico and Canada; and unlimited texts to another 38 countries. Data speeds are limited to just 3 Mbps, and video is streamed at 1.5 Mbps. Customers who exceed 22 Gbps in a single billing period may see slower speeds during network congestion. The promo runs from February 16 through April 12. It can be combined with other offers, such as free smartphones (ZTE Overture 3, LG Fortune, and Alcatel Verso) for port-ins with a new line of service.
